AI-Driven Innovation Takes Center Stage: Printer Industry Shines at Major 2026 Exhibitions

Mar 09, 2026

SHANGHAI & SHENZHEN, March 9, 2026 — The global printer industry is experiencing a new wave of digital transformation, with artificial intelligence (AI) integration, green technology and intelligent manufacturing becoming the core driving forces. A series of major industry exhibitions held in China in early March 2026 have showcased the latest technological breakthroughs and market trends, attracting thousands of enterprises and professionals from around the world to explore new opportunities in the sector.

Kicking off on March 4, the APPPEXPO 2026 Shanghai International Wide Format Printing Exhibition, themed "Connect · Create · Transform", has become a key platform for the industry’s new product launches and technological exchanges. Covering an area of 150,000 square meters, the exhibition gathers 1,300 domestic and foreign enterprises, including industry leaders such as Mimaki, Epson, Roland and King Hengfeng, presenting a full industrial chain ecological layout from equipment and materials to technical applications. During the exhibition, a number of cutting-edge printer products and solutions made their debut, highlighting the industry’s shift towards intelligence and high efficiency.

Epson, a benchmark in the digital printing field, stole the spotlight with the Asian premiere of its SureColor V4000 flatbed UV printer, the first 10-color high-precision flatbed UV device launched by the company in the Chinese market. Integrating Epson’s core "energy-saving, compact and precise" technology, the new printer can meet the surging demand for high-quality hard material printing in high-end commercial customization, cultural and creative gifts and other fields. Epson also announced two important market achievements at the exhibition: its new platform micro-jet photo printer achieved over 1,000 installations in the first year, and the company signed a cooperation agreement with Digital China & Fiery to further strengthen its ecological layout in color management.

Intelligent innovation was another focus of the exhibitions. At APPPEXPO 2026, Aike Technology launched its new intelligent cutting solution — the AI Sky Rail Dispatching System, an integrated intelligent cutting production line driven by AI algorithms. The system realizes unmanned full-process production from material warehousing and intelligent dispatching to processing completion, which can maximize production capacity and help enterprises achieve cost reduction and efficiency improvement through precise material allocation and equipment status prediction. Similarly, at the 32nd South China International Printing Industry Exhibition, which opened on the same day in Guangzhou, the "Smart Factory 4.0 Application Area" became a highlight, presenting a real operating micro intelligent workshop that realizes full-process linkage from intelligent scheduling and digital printing to AI visual quality inspection under AI drive.

Prior to these exhibitions, the SIGN CHINA & LED CHINA 2026 Spring Fair opened in Shenzhen on March 1, gathering more than 2,000 global brand enterprises. With the theme of "Unbounded Intelligent Display, Integrated Coexistence", the fair focused on the integration of printer technology with LED audio-visual, AI digital signs and other fields, attracting overseas buyers from 118 countries and promoting international trade cooperation in the industry.

Industry analysts point out that the printer industry is undergoing a profound transformation driven by AI technology, with three core development directions taking shape: full-process intelligent optimization, predictive maintenance and ecological interconnection. AI algorithms are optimizing printing parameters in real time, shortening color calibration time by more than 90% and improving defect detection accuracy to over 99.5%, while predictive maintenance technology can increase equipment overall efficiency by more than 30% and extend equipment service life by 20%. Market forecasts show that the global printing equipment market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 5% to 7% in the next five years, with industrial printers and 3D printing technology ushering in explosive growth, especially in intelligent manufacturing and medical implant fields.

International brands are also accelerating their layout in the global market. Canon plans to launch three key inkjet printer models in 2026, covering entry-level to industrial fields, while Ricoh has reached in-depth cooperation with Kyocera to provide low-threshold digital transformation solutions for printing enterprises. These moves indicate that inkjet printing technology is gradually becoming the mainstream choice in commercial printing, driving the industry to move towards large-scale and high-quality development.

As the world’s leading printing market, China is playing an important role in promoting the global printer industry’s transformation. With the support of national policies such as the "Printing Industry Digitalization Three-Year Action Plan (2025—2027)", domestic industrial inkjet equipment and supporting consumables are becoming increasingly mature, forming advantages in stability, cost performance and localized services. The series of exhibitions held in March not only display the latest achievements of the industry, but also build a bridge for global exchanges and cooperation, pushing the printer industry towards a more intelligent, green and sustainable future.
